Umi makes links to attach the forward bolts of the upper and lower control arms for support to the upper mounts. Im
Assuming to keep the crossmemebr above the axle hump from flexing/bending. Are doing anything to strengthen/support the upper control arm forward mounts? Do you think it a concern?

I’m considering a modification/ additional bar in the cage to support these mounts is my reason for asking.
I have a set in the Regal. I had kinda thought about making something but I didn't have any plans to yet. I was thinking with what I have done for suspension pick up point enhancement I want to try first and see how it works.

I’m curious at what point does the frame/crossmember get a permanent hurt put on it. I hear what Scott is saying that he could feel a difference.

Youre going to be whipping out a pile of go - probably something to think about. I’m wondering if this is the reason I’m driving so much at the big end of the track?

Sounds like I should sort it out as is and then add in the braces to find out. Experimental like.

Keep in mind I have recently had a good lesson on caution. It's not gonna be full sendiness for a while, I'm sticking to the kids table for a bit.

If that's the case then I'll be over here eating on the floor next to the dog...

Finally got off my lazy canoe today and got some stuff done. In my defense last week was busy.....

Main cage is in and welded out, fitting door bars and pondering how I want to do the rear down bars. I was thinking about bending to match the back of the C pillar but I think its going to just be welded straight in at an angle so I can get done the cage. Cages suck. Tig welding in bad angles is hard and I don't like it. Almost done though.

Not Instagram welds but they feel pretty good.

Hopefully I'll get the down bars done tomorrow and we can get back to motors and turbos. The sexy part of race cars.

Your description of the rear bars is EXACTLY how I felt by the time I got to them and EXACTLY why I made them straight into the axle hump lol.

I feel, and remember, your pain brother ......... and I mig’d and had a lift!

So much suck, but so much character to be built...

But good news, I just need an inspection after to run to 8.50 or 150mph. Other than a parachute and a flywheel scatter shield I should be good to go.

Tell me what scattershield you’re using? I’ve not found one that will fit without modifying (bfh) the firewall.
What engine diaper or pan are you using a pan?

EDIT : ok, misread - you don’t have a scattershield for the flexplate yet.

I can't find many 4L80e scattershields, I think I might use a flywheel shield and hope that makes the cut. I was looking at the summit diaper, but its going to be a b*tch to get between the crossmember and the oil pan. With the holley mounts, I might have to lift the motor out to install and remove for cruising. I haven't figured those out yet. I have heard that the tracks here are pretty laid back right now, I may lean heavily on that to get her sorted out and into the lower 9s.
