My wife has started shopping for a new midsize SUV. She currently has a 2016 Chevy Equinox LTZ with the 87 octane 308 horsepower V-6 and all the toys that were offered that year. A few yaers ago they downsized the Equinox and eliminated the 6. They rebodied the 2016 Equinox as the NEW BLAZER and raised the price insanely. It’s the same sizes, dimensions and standard/ offered equipment as her 16 even down to the sliding second row seat. Of course she’s gotten me involved and man is it frustrating. ALL the manufacturers are pushing these gutless 4 cylinder turbos that REQUIRE PREMIUM FUEL. In the midsize there have gotten to be VERY FEW that run on 87. I remember reading years ago that the then Cadillac 3.6 was only 260 HP and required premium gas. When they changed it to direct injection, the horsepower went up to 300 and it runs on 87. GREAT, but now you pretty much have to spend 40 thousand and up to get a SUV that runs on 87 and has any balls. Then the way they do the packaging, in order to get one option, you have to buy an expensive package. Kinda like 66-70 Chevelles, you could only get a big block if you ordered the SS package and vise-versa. Unlike say the Caprice down to the Byscane, you could order any drivetrain they had. I’ve tried talking her into going back to a pick-up, which she’s had 5 in the last 27 years. But she likes the midsized SUVs.
These little things are why I avoid modern vehicles in general.

Companies making their stuff cheaper and listening to their customers less.

They lost interest when they tried to stop you from customizing anything by putting sensors for everything that's not important and charging you for computer scans to figure things out. You drive x a amount of miles change oil, brakes makes sounds check/replace you drive gas gets low put more easy as sh*t, today light light light hmmm wonder why theres a light smh. Then you cant get the base model anymore and work your way up to the top of the line like you could from the 50s - 80s some 90s now it's what you find is what you get with little to upgrade/customize maybe rims stereo some motor upgrades

Besides, you can't get a V8 in a new Malibu!
Even the in the dark ages (late 70's early 80's) a lowly Malibu had a V8 option!
Albeit with like 140 hp, but still a V8!

Remember those ads on TV where the vehicle slid sideways across the screen, headlights blinking? Get excited!

Even though I don’t care for Chrysler products, I gotta say they’re new commercials do that with Dodge

That was just the Dodge sliding off the road after being blown off by the Camaro exhaust. :)

My regrets with our 10-15 year old daily drivers is that I can’t buy a brand-new one just like each one. Designers for today’s cars are heaping on ugly ‘angry car’ black plastic front and rear, ‘because that’s what consumers want’. Bleh.

Why do I need a TV in the middle of my dash? It belongs in the living room, not where it can distract me from looking out for the drivers looking at their phones.

I had a fully loaded 2014 Taurus SHO, best all around car I’ve owned. Fun to drive, fast, all the bells and whistles of a more expensive luxury car...and my whole family could fit in it. Better driver than my 2016 Mustang GT.

Idk, I guess it depends on what type of new car you have.
