How To Upgrade Your G-Body Steering on the Cheap

The pump will work, just not sure if you will have pressure issues. For the price of a new pump I just wanted to use something I know works together.

if there is no slack in any of the front end components and you have slack in the box then you need to check the pressure the pump is putting out. The box has nothing to do with the wheel returning to center, that depends on your caster setting.
The shop guy gave it all the caster he was comfortable with. Not sure how far it would go but he did say it was almost all of it. I used all Moog parts so maybe the new has to wear off a little. I don't know.

Racks use less pressure than boxes

a rack pump puts out about 850 psi when a box pump puts out about 1200

I'm not sure what the guy means by that. I would be asking him what all the settings are. With my delphi 600 box I had 4.5 on the right and 5 on the left. Can the shop guy not tell you what the problem is?. If he can't time to find a new shop.

He told me all the numbers but its been a while and I can't remember. He can't figure out why its doing it either and yes you are right about a new shop guy. Not many to choose from here in Hot Springs AR.

Since an old thread got bumped anyway... What's the ratio of the factory G-body box then? 14:1?
