After failing at bending the POS Pypes tail pipe I went to the Q-Jet I got last weekend. The known factors are it's a '85 (March '85 based on main body casted date code) for a truck with an auto. It has signs of a past rebuild (has a epoxy in plug at the fuel/filter inlet, clear sealer on the electric choke.) Looks like it had a clean storage, no grime. The big unkown is the specific ID code since someone grinded it off. I would like to atleast reseal it but with an unknown history a rebuild would be the best course. I'm just trying to figure out which kit to get. It's bad enough I still have the Holley 4175 (what was on the old engine) to rebuild & now I have a Q-Jet to do. Atleast I'll have options on which to use when I get them done. But any ideas on what other ID marks there might be to look for?
