as usual I disappear for a little then I get finally get a few things done. 🤣
I recently picked a tig welder. So I’ve mostly been practicing on that.
Also picked up some used Nitto drag radials to test fit… Well they didn’t fit..
295/45/18
So I made the logical choice and cut the frame.
It was always the plan so I grew the beans and did it. Ultimately I plan to run a 28-10.5 so this will help me tuck it in some.

Working on getting this unit and myself dialed in.
I do think the pedal they supplied is bad.
When I tried to practice on aluminum it seems to be erratic, kinda starts then stops. It was sort of doing the same with in DC on the steel.
I switched over to the torch button and it seems to be doing better.
Roast me and give me some tig pointers.
I’ve done plenty with mig but never tig before now.

Working on the crappy homemade console some more.
Battery died in drill so cupholders aren't done yet. They're 4", so should fit most things. I wonder if they make like plastic or stainless inserts with a lip that'll drop in.

Well, planned a maiden voyage for the new motor transmission combo which went very different than planned. My buddy took his fox body out with us, it ended up with an air bubble in the cooling system after first thinking it was a stuck thermostat when it started pouring coolant out 2 miles into the drive. I turned the Monte off to see what he had going on, that ended up being a big mistake. It didn't want to fire up after and the fact that he had pulled into a small driveway i was attempting the austin powers turn around which keep killing the car even trying to 2 foot it. So we had to jump the car like 4 or 5 times, finally deciding to manually push the car to turn it around and then jump it so that I could just drive back to the shop. The initial short test drive to make sure it shifted and downshifted worked so thought it was alright to take out. But after getting close to the shop, we did a little more testing and by the end it didnt want to shift itself so gonna have to tear back into a few issues.

recognizing that this is a prototype so far, have you thought about what other features you plan to have? in the pic below, I made some suggestions based on what modern cars have.
the blue circles are USB or power plugs for charging devices
the blue lines are the power supplying those plugs
the black lines are the lines from the plug to the device
the blue spots on the lid surface mating edge are cutouts so the line doesn't get pinched coming out
the yellow rectangles are cubbies where you can set your phone for charging while you are driving
