Looks like a good start, MrSony. Probably stouter than the OE plastic stuff. I live in a mild state of fear about the one in the coupe suffering from age.

These Chevy clusters with the round gauges have a shadowbow with teeny tiny tabs to hold the top. Obviously 4/5 decades later thin cheap plastic just doesn't get it. Thought about buying the repro, but it appears to be exactly like the original, and there really wasn't anything wrong with it other than the tabs.
Grabbed some aftermarket radio strap and bent up a couple "L" brackets. Some auto trim tape and a little rattlecan black, and another nagging issue solved. Guy could overlay the brackets with JB or their favorite adhesive if they don't like the trim tape, but I deal with it daily and it'll be fine. Also sprayed the backside with white to help nightime clarity
These little projects, though small. have really helped turn my attitude around. Instead of spending time looking for a "better, finished" car, I'm on the way to getting the one I already own back into service, with upgrades. Plus, makes the Mrs happy that I'm doing something with it.

Bad inside connection?****ing thing died on the way to work, swapped a module in the dark on the side of the road, clocked in a minute before idve been late.
after work, died again. i went and got a junkyard module, and a brand new accel module (that was a ****ing hassle in itself), known good coil, carbon brush, nothing. buddy had to flat tow me home.
I believe about the only thing left is a bad connection, capacitor, or magnetic pickup.Bad inside connection?
Dumb question but are you putting the white paste under the module when you replace it?I have a spare TA distributor, and a spare OEM distributor. I'm going to try the TA one first, as that is the same distributor that's in the car now, so the timing curve will be correct (once i swap springs), and it was running when my last engine exploded. last resort is buying a new one from TA again ($80 less than a new ac delco one) and waiting a week or so for it to show up.
However... there is a chinese knockoff ready to run msd look alike on marketplace right now for $50...

I swapped distributors, using the newest module i purchased (which might actually mean my few spares may actually be good...), and it runs now. so that leads me to believe it was the pickup coil or the little cube capacitor thing that was bad. cap and rotor never changed, only things i changed was the coil, and modules. swapping to a different distributor solved whatever problem it had.Dumb question but are you putting the white paste under the module when you replace it?
