Yep, that'll take out a pilot bearing for sure. What exactly is cracked there? Tough to tell what bit I'm looking at on my phone.
I think that is a photo playing tricks, that was just the gasket maker seeping out. I took a pic of it because we had thought that the dealership snapped a bolt and just shipped it that way when it was rebuilt last time under warranty. Turns out they may have just lost the bolt and not put one back in, there was a variation of crazy tight bolts and some just barely over hand tight so anything is possible

Ahh. Well I do know that rear main seal cover was prone to porosity issues that would lead to leakage. I wonder if your little pocket bearing didn't leave the chat inside the trans? That's an awful lot of input slop, too much to be chalked up to improper shimming.

Oh yeah, those pieces of metal are from that bearing. My question is what happened to the roller parts of the bearing

I think you're referring to the pilot bearing, I'm talking about the bearing inside the trans that supports the main shaft inside the input shaft.

Yeah you are right. I ordered the shim kit, input shaft bearing/race, and the input shaft seal assuming that they are bad in there

My younger sister had an accident in her Hyundai Accent and insurance didn't cover it, so I've been working on it in the garage over the last couple weeks.

Between several junkyards, I found a color matched fender and door, got a junkyard headlight, wheel and hubcap. I repaired the bumper cover and the tire was still okay. The strut was bent, so I replaced both front struts with new Carquest ones. I ordered new inner and outer tie rods from RockAuto.

I noticed a strong fuel smell from the car while it was in the garage, so I inspected that issue, and saw the fuel tank was rusted and leaking at one of the seams. I got it removed (it was 110% full of gas, BTW), and I'm going to pick up a salvage tank tomorrow.

While I was underneath inspecting the tank, I noticed the rear brakes were looking really rough, so I ordered new pads and rotors from RockAuto. At this point, the body work is done, I painted the replacement wheel today, so I'll have the tire mounted tomorrow and pick up a replacement fuel tank. Then I'm just waiting on RockAuto for tie rods and brakes. It pains me because I know she's not gonna take care of it, but it'll be right at least once when it leaves here.

Might have scored the last pair of NOS caliper mounts in existence for my Camaro, same as a C4 Corvette.

Gonna be a shame to bolt some nasty old calipers up to them! Gotta get boots and maybe pins tomorrow.

I generally consider Hyundais to be disposable but it has been relatively reliable, especially considering she does absolutely nothing to take care of it.
