Looking for input & info from those that switched to or are running a non-power assisted brake set-up in their g-body.

What is your brake combo (rotors; calipers; master cylinder; prop valve)?
What is your cars combo (drivetrain/body style)?
Likes & dislikes?
Anything you would change?
Anything you would change if it was free to do?

Thanks in advance for your perspective/experience.

i did that on a plymouth i went with a little larger bore master cylinder to give it more push and a little smaller bore rear wheel cylinders to make it not lock up the rear wheels ..give it a try with your original parts then go from there

That makes sense but.... I can't test that as described.

The car will be upgrading from OE 10.5" rotor/single piston fronts to C6 Z51/Grand Sport 13.5"/2-piston brakes as well as OE drum to 12" single piston discs & the reason for the question is to get a feel for what others have experienced w/their swaps. It will get a correctly sized MC bore for the future set-up (15/16) along w/the relocated pedal actuator rod for the required ratio change.

Hydro boost is out of the question (same real estate issues) & g-body's already have a fairly small diameter booster compared to earlier models so can't gain much going smaller as the depth remains. I'm also researching electric boost set-ups.

I'm considering the change for under hood real estate related obstacles & just trying to get a feel for others experiences/likes/dis-likes w/their manual set-ups.

you might have a hard time finding someone with manual brakes and upgraded “street” style brakes.
Most people with manual that I have seen usually run drag style brakes. I’ve seen a ton of people talking about them on the FB groups.
I have C7 z51 front Brembo and aerospace drag setup in the rear. I went with Hydroboost because ultimately I would like the wife to drive the car and maybe someday the kids.
I do know it’s going to be tough to run the downpipe for the driver side but hopefully it won’t be too bad.

To me.... It would seem the greater friction area of contact + the leverage adjustment of the manual swap would still yield an improvement vs. the vacuum assisted OE 10.5 single caliper front & 9" rear drums (that's the assumption anyway). I've driven other cars that had upgraded discs (>12") front & rear w/power assist & found they can be very sensitive on the lighter cars. It's something you can live with for a hot-rod or show car but not something you'd want to put up with in a car that is driven regularly.

My hope was the larger 13.4"F/12"R non assisted combo would land in the middle. I want better than OE g-body braking as the end result.
