Replaced header bolts that fell out and self tapped the upper door panel to the door because those plastic clips are bullshit.

Sanding spot putty used a large plastic spreader spread red spot putty over finders and doors just as befor then i block sanded it all down with 2 blocks of plywood and some 220 sandpaper shot some metal flake on roof of car .if your shooting any flake ? completely cover the whole car except what area your spraying it,...I used a 1.8 nozzle size hvlp gun ( no pic)...im useing 600 or 500 to sand between coats. SHOT SILVER befor the flake...Furthermore when useing the large 1.8 nozzle do not stop your spray passes in the middle unless you have to ( walk) and don't change directions..as the clear( can) will puddle a little at the end of stroke if you don't let off the trigger on large areas (3 to 4 foot up ect) when doing tops shoot a wet ( heavy)coat and by all means hose over the ( your) neck and down the arm ( on top) .it helps to have 2 pine 2x6 (8) " by 6" foot ( cat) walk boards nailed or fixed to something about 6 to 7 inches high on either side of the car ! that helps

That spot putty has some drawbacks but I admit to using it on my hood and will use it in other places as well- it's just so easy to apply and sand. And you're absolutely right about metal flake, that stuff seems to cover everything in the room. I look forward to seeing this in full color.

Taller wheel tub progress.....

Relief cut's were made to the driver side tub to allow installation. With that tub now in place, I've been focusing on tweaking the area that got cut to minimize the visual variation vs the pass side tub (a result of the cut). I sent some images to a buddy/hot-rod builder who's been helping w/ideas & suggestions. He has MIG, TIG, & more fab equipment than I do (I only have MIG @ my shop & basics as far as fab work goes). Tentative plan is to possibly move the car to his place next month.

Wow those are wide. Maybe it’s just the angle, or contrast in colors, but they look really really wide. What front wheel and tire combination are you planning on running?
Also, how much taller than stock are the tubs?

Looking good, keep posting pictures of the progress!

That’s nice! Would love to do something like that eventually. I really dislike the stock plastic ones.

Agreed. How does everyone feel about fiberglass? And would the fenders be smooth or have a factory like appearance? More than once I've pondered making a mold of the originals but just don't have the time or space right now.

A smoothed fiberglass option would be real nice! Especially if it's gaining space for the big meats!
