My uncle got me a code reader which turned out to be good timing since my sister had just mentioned she was throwing a code, so when I got to her place yesterday I hooked it up to find this. Ended up clearing it and warning her we will probably have to do her o2 but just reset it first to see if it comes back
Been having fun rebuilding the plow. Started fixing it with metal I had (1/8”). then bought some 16 gage that the plow is really made of. Patching lasts two years, I’ll be happy. Got the wrong mig wire and will never weld with flux cord again if I can get away with it!
I'll bite...how long does it take to rust thru a snowplow blade? 🤷♂️
Well… the truck’s an 03’ and possibly put on the truck new. The rust is all from the back side to the front and from where it is on the plow I’m almost guessing it sat on its face a lot. It’s all up under the top curled area that would hold water. But it’s all a guess.
I have finally jumped into doing the head gaskets on my wife's 92 Buick Lesabre that she inherited from her mom. It got Dexcooled to death and was blowing some bubbles through the radiator and vaping out the exhaust when we picked it up back in July.
The actual job hasn't been too bad but getting parts has been a pain for some reason. I got the FelPro top end gasket kit in preparation to start working and found that it was missing one of the head gaskets. I ended up getting another one ordered in but that delayed me a day. Broke a vacuum fitting off of the vacuum distribution block at the top of the plenum and that will either get repaired with super glue or a brass fitting from work. I had to pull a metal tube out of the timing cover that feeds the heater core and it managed to break off at the O-ring. That guy hasn't been available since 2013 and I had to go to the dealer just to get a GM part number to look around online for it. Yeah not available online either. It's the #3 pipe.
It has an O-ring and groove rolled into the end of it that seals to a smooth bore inside the timing cover. I thought I was going to have to remake the entire thing with copper fittings, but figured out that a copper 3/4 to 1/2 reducer had the exact bore size as the end of the steel tube that was missing and was a tight slip fit inside the tube. I ended up buying a torch kit and brazing rods and brazed the copper fitting onto the end of the steel tube.
I left the fitting sticking out slightly to give me an O-ring groove and ground down anything that was sticking up. I then used a tubing cutter and cut the excess length off.
I installed the new O-ring, coated the end in wheel bearing grease, and tapped it back into place. It seems like it went in well, but I will say a prayer that it actually seals.
Still waiting for a throttle body gasket to finish it up but it should arrive tomorrow.

Since we got lucky and had a day of rain then a freak almost 60 degree day, so we decided to get the cars out and of course that meant going to get some pizza
My step-mom drives a 2016 GMC Acadia. She and Dad bought it about four years ago. The headlights have never looked that good and have just gotten progressively worse. I didn't think a restoration was going to yield acceptable results. Unfortunately, GM headlight assemblies are over $1k a piece, so that wasn't an option. My brother, sister-in-law and I went in together and bought her a set of aftermarket lights for Christmas. I generally don't think much of aftermarket headlight assemblies but the quality of these has so far been a pleasant surprise. I went out to Dad's house yesterday to get them installed. The fit is really good and I was able to get them aimed nicely. I won't lie, it wasn't the funnest project I've ever done but it wasn't awful.

I've been looking for some for the '14 Miata Club I'm flipping. Same deal on the headlights.... $1k a pop for OE units. I've searched half-assed for aftermarket options but everything that comes up screams fugly (ricer vibes) vs an OE appearance. Sucks for sure.
