11/15/2024 is the 25 year anniversary of this thing being wrecked. I'll have a semi-coherant update.
Well, this isn't the update that I had planned, but it's something. I had a talk over Thanksgiving with brother and progress was made. He's got the doors finished. He added reinforcement to the pulls. They all crack there.
He's got the doors in epoxy. The cowl vent and the dash are done too.
He's chipping away at the easy stuff first. Hopefully the forward momenentum continues.

He had his work cut out for the body lines under the window. It's perfect now. Not quite ready for primer, but close. Firewall is just getting started.
Where is the reinforcement? Is it to the doors? I can't seem to make the pictures mesh in my mind. Thrilled to see it's getting worked on.
I guess I could have explained that better. If you look at this photo, you'll see a bulge above the two oval shaped stampings. That's the door pull. Over the decades, they always seem to crack out. He welded in short sections of tube/pipe on the inside to eliminate the flex. These doors will never crack again.
These were pretty sparse from the factory. No armrests or grab handles, just a ledge below the glass. Hell, the door panels and headliner were cardboard. They don't have much in the way of cushion either. Slam the door with the window rolled down and it's almost guaranteed to crack the glass.
This is one of the coolest non-G-body projects here. I'm glad you're trying to improve the mechanics of the truck at the same time keeping the stock look on the outside. Or in the case of the door pulls, the "inside". Those doors came out looking great.
Thanks for following along. I know it hasn't had much to update on, but he's been trying to put in a couple hours after work when he can. He's running two body shops while being a full time body man and trying to have a bit of a family life. Not a whole lot of free time, so I'm glad to see progress. Hopefully it continues.
