I'm relatively new to the G-body platform, and tomorrow I'm picking up a 1979 Cutlass S. While I'm not a car mechanic, I do work in construction and am skilled with tools and working with my hands. My budget allows me to invest about $500 into this car every two weeks. I have a general idea of what I want to achieve, but I'm unsure about the necessary steps or the order in which to tackle them.

I aim to make this car a daily driver (or at least drive it three days a week), so reliability is essential. However, I also want it to be a nice performer—ideally pushing 500 horsepower to the wheels if possible also keeping it super reliable I would like to get more. I'm considering an LS swap using an LQ9 engine paired with a supercharger from a Cadillac CTS-V. I understand this will require a new transmission, along with motor mounts, and I'll need to upgrade the suspension and brakes as well.

For aesthetics, I plan to replace the original seats and have heard that seats from a 2012 Camaro RS could be a good fit, but I'm not entirely sure about that. I'd also like to move the shifter from the back of the steering wheel to the center console. Additionally, I want to upgrade various electrical components, including installing a new stereo with good speakers and possibly a car alarm, among other ideas.

I'm looking for a modern feel with upgraded technology inside the car while maintaining a classic look on the outside. I'll be posting a lot of pictures tomorrow. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on whether this project is achievable, as well as any additional ideas or guidance on where to start. Thank you!

Not only is your plan possible, but much of that work has been detailed in various threads over the years and should be available for reading at your convenience. It sounds like you've got a good idea of where you want to take it and I'm also looking forward to seeing things unfold. I've got a '78 myself and have been surprised a few times by "one year only" items like the headlights, taillights, and grille whereas other changes affected all G cars at certain years- wipers & their controls, splined steering shaft vs double D, etc.. I can't say if your proposed seats will drop right in but most (all) GM buckets up to about '04 do fit the G Body bucket seat brackets. Which are different than the split bench brackets. You'll want to add some frame bracing and upgrade many, many things along the way as well. There's a "Junkyard Interchange" super thread that's full of good info, and it's what started me down the road of researching the best mods and why they work: https://gbodyforum.com/threads/the-junkyard-interchange-and-rarities-thread.13366/

as others pointed out, anything is possible and your list of mods sounds extensive/expensive. generally, I'd do the interior first, then the mechanicals, then the exterior bodywork.
post some pics when you can and let us know where you live. if you're north you may be dealing with rust, in which case bodywork comes first. are you going to be doing any re-painting?

Welcome, sounds like a very good plan that will take a lot of work but hope that you see it through. As you have seen mentioned we love pics, so that will help keep many of the people vested in helping you along the way. Looking forward to the just got her pic

sounds like a great plan , but that motor with the factory supercharger is around 560 HP . The G Body will need serious $$$$ including a new frame.
could be cheaper / easier to drop the Cutlass body onto the frame of a 2009 CTS-V .
