    78 GP door interchange?

Thanks for the reply. I tried there first but wasn't sure of its accuracy with older parts. There was 1 listed within 100 miles of me. All of the others would almost certainly require shipping. :(

    78 GP door interchange?

I'm looking at buying a 78 Grand Prix SJ 2 door. The passenger door has been hit and needs replacing. I don't have it yet so I'm asking since searching didn't prove helpful. What other doors will fit or is the door shell GP specific?

    LT1 engine mount help

Both the mounts on the frame and the engine should be positioned the same as I remember. The frame mounts only use 3 holes and should be directly across from each other. There is usually a wide tab in the rubber insert that should be at the bottom. If the engine mount is upside down, I think...

    LT1 engine mount help

You should be able to use any small block engine side mount (exc the LT1 pass side). The L31 Vortec brackets are the same as the older style. Keep in mind, you will have to remove the rear AC bracket because it bolts where you need to put the motor mount.

    Steering Box

The F- body box is a direct bolt on if you already have the o-ring style pressure line but you need the g-body pitman arm. It has internal steering stops that limit travel more than a G body quick ratio box. The regular boxes are either 14.4:1 or 17.5:1 where the quicker ratio is 12.7:1

86 Grand Prix well on its way

Thats a beautiful GP. Your location caught my attention too. I work in Washington so maybe I can catch you around town sometime. Those plastic vaccum lines under the hood crack and you lose all vac to the mode switch inside. My Malibu does the same thing from time to time.

    LT1 pros and cons

I have a 95 LT1 swap in my 78. My build thread is over on Maliburacing. The link is in my sig. Very simple and super fun to drive.

    mass backing carpet

Use the mass backed. That's what factory carpet is plus it is extra insulating for noise and heat. It's molded to the floor so it only needs trimming around the edges. Rockauto.com had the best price on ACC brand

    LT1/LT4 swap into monte carlo

LT1's are awesome and way cheaper than LS1's. I used a '95 9C1 Caprice for most of my swap parts. The motor mounts were easier to deal with by just using the factory mounts on the frame and the MC V8 "clam shell" on the pass side of the block. You can check out my build thread on MR.com in my...

+1 Done! I've never seen that many AMC's in one place. Makes you feel sorry for them. :D

    pics of my malibu

Looks like a 82-92 Firebird wing. It was a popular thing to swap. I personally would rather have the M80 over the Firebird if I were to use a wing.

    Vacuum Line mapping 5.0L "H"

Is it a large line (3/8) or a small line (11/32)? My guess is the large line. It should be the fuel bowl vent which you won't have a port for if you have a Holley carb.

    LT1 motor mounts

The passenger side mount on the block is mounted further back and flipped 180 deg. You need to use an older small block "clam shell" and use the stock v8 rubber style mounts on the frame. There is a stud in the hole where the shell needs to mount. It is suppose to be for the AC compressor rear...
