1978 Malibu Project, 4th times a charm

Wow, going for the drag car theme? I'm surprised. It'll be a gorgeous 1/4 mile car!

Just read all 28 pages.....questions....on page 23 the plastic inner fenders look like they have been smoothed....how did you do them? And on the last couple of pages with the hood in the pics, I take it you haven't aligned the doors yet?

I've read through this thread & you sure have done some nice work w/some clever use of budget items/tools. The tip-tissorie is great. I've seen my C10 cohorts build them for truck cabs but never seen one done for a car body.

Well done from another DFW guy!

I think we will need the room so I’m planning ahead, I really want to use the factory core support if possible and packaging allows. This won’t be a drag car per se, planning on taking it to the Texas mile and love to take it to the Silver State Classic.

Those are the factory inner fenders, haven’t touched them, yet. Zero body alignment yet, working from bottom up then back to door alignment, then it comes off the frame ready for paint.

I've heard stories that for a street driven car, there can be some difficulty in getting everything mounted and secured when using the tubular support. I've never used one but seem to remember others saying something to that effect... Might be worth checking into first.

Macguyver just ordered up one of your 8.8 truss kits, ready to see how it fits and also ordered up some Brian Tooley springs and titanium retainers today.....
Sounds like a fun project. Please feel free to call if you need any help along the way. We are just getting back in town and the shop will open back up in the morning. Check for tracking in your email.
