Never heard of KBS coatings but I will look into it. I want something good that will hold up to stone chips and the like.

Doug, look into tptools.com they have all kinds of chassis paint and bunch of other car restoration tools, parts and such. I bought a lot from them over the years, they aren't to far either Canfield OH. I'm glad your happy with the frame!

Nice. I'm over around Boardman/Canfield area pretty often.

I'm very happy with it. Can't believe it still has factory upper ball joints.

That frame only has 115k on it. That car came from the new york, new jersey area I couldn't believe how clean it was for being a northern car. But it was last on the road and the mid 90's so I'm sure that's what saved it from being rotted out.

I got a chance to go out and hit the frame with a wire wheel today just to see what everything looks like under the dirt. It looks better than I thought it would. It is going to look really good once it's all cleaned up.

I gave it a light coat of red oxide primer for the time being. Once I'm ready to do all of the cleaning I'll use something better.
I need to get the tubing for the fuel lines and brake lines before I remove the old ones though. It's easier to copy them when you can work right to the old.

I found a roll of 1/4" OD 90/10 copper nickel brake line that was left over from doing new lines on my truck. It should be enough to run the new rear brake lines. Now I just need to get some 1/2" tubing for fuel lines and I'll be good to go.

Are you going to box the frame in? BTW I'm following your build since I also have an 80 Cutlass... Down the road I would like to swap in a clean frame and the way you're going about it is perfect... Drive what you have while cleaning up the new frame..

I'm not sure yet If I want to box it, I'm trying to decide if the added weight is worth any benefit at the HP that I'm going to end up with. Chances are I will box it.
Just a warning though this time of year I work long hours and this project may go a little slow.
Also if you aren't familiar with pulling one of these bodies off of the chassis then read up on the thread "Replacing body bushings on 1979 Monte Carlo". The job can get ugly but there are ways to deal with every issue that comes up.

I wouldn't box it unless you plan on putting some serious HP in the car... Doug, I don't know if you follow the Dave & Eds car events but canfield swap meet is this weekend and normally Tp tools has a pretty sale going on this weekend also. Might be able to get chassis paint cheap. Just thought I'd pass the info on to you
