and i think that transmission is a turbo 400. been a long time since i've looked at one. if it is, you may have a 403 cu in engine.
what does every one else think?

Seller claims it's a 350 from a 72, but I trust you guys... Youre not trying to sell it lol. Is the 403 a better engine? For some reason I've been stuck on finding a 350.

get the driveshaft from the donor car if it is a 400 you will need the yoke.

to resize your driveshaft should not break the bank and it can be done in a day

Shortening the drive shaft... Is that going to involve anything custom? I'm trying to make this thing as plug and play (within the reasoning of an engine/transmission swap) as possible. Of not, may need to see if I can get the engine and a different transmission.

Any driveshaft shop can shorten your driveshaft and change the yoke. You can also have a custom shaft made to order online. The TH400 trans is a huge upgrade over the TH200.

Which one of these pans is on the trans

ask for pictures of the trans pan and a pic of the casting number

If you use the turbo 400 you will need a trans crossmember from a later model g body with a 200r4 transmission. Also being you have and 1980 a mount will have to be fabricated on the drivers side frame rail for the new crossmember . As mentioned any driveshaft shop can shorten your driveshaft

That last part about the crossmember flew over my head at lightspeed [emoji15] how does one fabricate such a thing? Perhaps I'm getting in over my head?

I'm betting I can figure out most anything mechanical, but fabrication Im lost on. Wouldn't even know where to start/who to source it from.
