Trans is back in! Goodnight.

So much electrical... argh! Note the washers under the trans mount - I started shimming the tail shaft to get the driveline angles in spec(ish).

Whataday!

Long story short the trans is looking like it needs a set of skyjackers to deal with the lift at the trans mount (so many shims) - but enough of that. Got the starter back on and tested (it cranks), the driveshaft loop in, driveshaft in, torque converter bolted down, reverse lights and NSS/shifter linkage working, trans cooler lines buttoned up, and I just finished segment swapping the tune for the 4L80E.

Still a ways to go - but progress is being made!

Just out of curiosity, did you add the wiring for the input speed sensor? I didn't the first time around and that trans lasted quite a while like that. Not sure if that was a contributing factor in the transmissions demise or not. I added it this time. I don't have the nss hooked up at all.

Yes I am running the front VSS input, I bought the Nelson harnesses (cheapest option I found). Pretty easy install.

I am using the factory NSS/column lock-out - adapting the mechanical linkage (for a second time) was quite the chore. The obvious alternative involved more wiring, micro switches, and some relays (ironcially the car has most of this pre-installed already). But, having things (ie. tail lights) working like factory is nice.

My factory nss stuff and reverse lights are still functional on the column shifter. My harness has the 80e nss connectors but they aren't connected to anything.

Cool. I am running a floor shifter and long tubes which is a much more involved process to retain those components using the factory levers and brackets.

Hope you post some pics of your solutions. I’m gonna be doing the same thing pretty quick.

I think there are a few earlier on in this thread. But, I'll snap some more once I am back under the car again.
