Window frame

Oh Yeah. I forgot to mention. The El Camino doors have no upper frame for the glass. The original frame has to be made wider using doner parts from the back doors. Oh and another thing. The glass won`t work. El Camino glass is shorter in the front. A wagon windshield is more vertical an a lttle taller. Another challange. Answer? Lexan because the rame has a slight curve. Piece of cake if you have the time!

put up some pics bob

Bob.
Another way I've seen it done was, of course using the El Camino/ Malibu coupe doors and cutting and slanting the A-pillars(andwinshield) to meet the angle of the side glass. This is may also entail chopping the top alittle.
Also reworking the window frames to simulate the wagon solid frames as you stated.

I think the lexan option would be simpler and save a lot of work.

I would give my left nut for 64 MALIBU 2DR. Funny they don't pay much for a left one anymore.

I don't want your left nut, but I would take $15,000. 😀

Jeff,
Was that Chuck Hanson's wagon from Horsepower TV ? Nice car. I know his last wagon was a '66 2-dr phantom. Very nicely done, too.

Bob,
Any updates on your 2-dr wagon build? It looks like it's coming along nicely. Did you decide to use Lexan for the side windows.
I assume that you used the C-pillar/ window frame to fab the slanted B-pillar.

Yes, Jack, it was Chuck's. Right now it needs a carb. The Holley he used has given up and I really don't like Holleys. So a Quadrajet is in my future.
I also know the guy (Ken Memmel) who built the 66 Chuck has now. It was built to look like you might have gone into a dealer in 66 and driven it off the showroom floor, even though they never built 2-door wagons in 66. Ken is a very talented body guy and can do almost anything. I've recently seen a 65 Buick Sportwagon 2-door hardtop that he built. If I can locate that post, I'll post it here.

Thanks for noticing.

Jeff,
I thought that car looked familiar. Yes, the '66 wagon was done with a high level of craftsmanship. It looks like the way it would have been done by GM...probably better.
I would love to see some pics and info of the '65 Buick 2-dr HT Sportwagon. I recall seeing a Chevelle wagon done with a Vista Cruiser roof.
My friend Vince had met you a while back. He drives an '81 Cutlass Cruiser wagon and a '77 Olds Cutlass. He had seen your wagon and actually told me about it.
I always been a huge wagon fan.

Thanks!

Jack

Here is the thread from V-8 Buick. Follow along and click on all the links to get a full sense of everything that is out there. Buick, Chevy, Olds, etc. Let me know what you think.

Jeff,
Thanks for posting that thread. I really like the 2-dr sedan Buick Special wagon. Nicely done body work.
I also like the 2-dr HT wagon. That's very trick looking.
The last 2-dr HT wagon that I've seen was in an old junkyard several years ago. It was a Mercury 2-dr HT Commuter wagon.
Someone obviously scooped it up. I went back there a few weeks later and it was gone...along with a few early '50's Chevy sedan deliveries and a Pontiac sedan delivery.
The Mercury did look a bit rusty, though.
