So this is were I am at with this Monte. My goal is to finish the front brakes, install all new brake lines and put the body back on the frame before the new year... I have an engine/transmission already. Problem is its in my nova. So I need to find a drivetrain for that car before I swap it out...

69bigblock,

i just discovered your thread today, searching for "rotisserie". while i am envious of the juggernaut build, i think what you're doing here is closer aligned what my restoration is going to look like.

i'm about to put my 78 monte carlo on a rotisserie myself. i'm curious, did you remove the doors and install reinforcement bars before rolling the body around?

thanks.

Great restore/build and thread. Seems like a great price for that frame to get sandblasted/painted, looks terrific. Look forward to seeing more.

Xlore,
I didn’t remove the doors.. the doors are good so I had no reason too.. everything else like glass, trunk, and doors are on..
I’ve been working on the front brake setup here and there, so I will be posting about that soon..

So I was busy with work but had some time get done things done. I drilled out the brackets, drilled and tap the spindles. I thought I saved the older rotors so I can make some hubs, but I guess I didn’t.

I’ve done the C5 caliper brakes on my nova years ago.. with the monte I decided to go with a set of 5th gen Camaro 4 piston brembos.. actually the used sets aren’t expensive. They mount by using LS1 mounting brackets..

I painted them red to match the rear.. Brembos uses a 14” rotor.

So the rotors from a 5th gen Camaro ss with brembo calipers came in.. the inside diameter where the rotor fits over the hub is smaller. So you need to open it up to fit.. there’s not enough material to cut the hub anymore..
