That is VERY strange how there are two different ways they did the rear glass considering it's a one year only, low production car. The Monte Aerocoupes had different seals (and glass) between the two years, but it's strange to see a difference on a one-year only model.

I really suspect these are date codes, not the build sequence. I don't know the odds of finding 4 cars that close in sequence number is, but likely very very high. I bet the first 1 is for the first year, the second 2 digits are for weeks. So the first pic above was built in the 11th week.

Well then again, what are the odds of finding 3 cars that were built around the same time? Oh yeah, about the roof, my friends car is the same.

I got looking at the roof photos of the various 2+2s, and one thing that I've noticed is that the roofs of these cars tend to be rusty at the upper rear corners (at least on the ones that have been used regularly over the years), where most other standard G bodies, the roofs are usually in better shape in that area. I'm thinking that sealing the rear glass in the 2+2s was not a big priority, because of the low number being built, and this led to the rust problem in that area. My 2+2 is rusted across the rear of the roof, just above the rear glass, and it leaks in the area where the glass is supposed to be sealed to the roof.

I think the upper window corners rust out because GM used a cheap bodyfiller when they smoothed it out. After 25 years the sun is drying it out, creating cracks where water can penetrate. I don't have to worry about my cars getting any worse for now, they won't see rain for a while.

its oiled underneath, but the frame is rotten behind the wheels, and a lot of holes in the trunk. Dash is already sold out of it too. I need the roof for the t-top parts.
