My Quadrajet Secondary Metering kit.I collect the metering rods, hangers and shortly I'll start collecting the jets, most of the rods are DD's which are factory lean rods for g bodied regals, cutlasses and grand prixes.I hate these rods but somehow I ended up with like a dozen of them.

My spare parts, which also I seem to start collecting,I am selling some of these parts but whenever I look in my closet,I dont believe I should sell them,I love collecting the parts for my car, even if theyre off year parts,or 18 of the same thing, yes my closet, its crowded in there, most of the parts are trim and chrome bits and the size of the closet is something you can comepair to an airplane bathroom!

This past tuesday,i went to a private junkyard with my dad and grandpa and this junkyard is full of 50s-90s cars, trucks and everything in between.I must have seen about two dozen g bodies there, seriuosly grand prixes, cutlasses, regals,el caminos and one 86 monte carlo ss with a rear.Anyway I drove down to this yard in my cutlass that day becasue my dads 91 s10 is killed right now,so I didnt get a whole lot,the prices at this yard are horrible,$50 for a pair of grilles, three headlight bezels, two air cleaner assembles and two pairs of metering rod hangers. The monte carlo rear is going to be mine,$450 (if posi) later or $250 (single trac). So here's the parts I got.

the air cleaner is off of a 307 powered 85 olds.I believe it has a 305 air cleaner lid, personally i like the look of the stock air cleaner on my cutlass so i'm leaving it on there for awhile.
And a good free air filter!

looks like ya got a fortune in g parts........I have been selling stuff like you got there on ebay for about a year. paid for over 1000 bucks worth of NOS parts that way

you got about 1000 bucks worth there......should sell the best and buy nos instead

anyways....................nice collection

peace

I've been trying to sell most of my mechanical parts, like the radio and the fan,no one seems to need them,I'm also selling the taillights here, the same happens, no replys. When I restore this car,I do want to restore it using reconditioned parts or NOS.I've seen a lot of NOS parts on ebay this summer. So I know that stuff is still out there to scavenge.BTW My dream car,1985 Cutlass Salon in Blue!

To show you what modifications I've done a while back,I've filled the air valve stop on the quadrajet,to allow better performance, making it open almost 100% of the way, instead of the stock 70%.The only performance modifications possible to a microprocessor controlled carb is only during WOT,so I shot for that, since i dont have a working older non computerized carb to put on the 307.To further modify it,I have added octane to the mix, taken the vaccum stop to the secondaries off and tuned it using my metering rods and hangers,I still havent figured the best combination of rod and hanger, currently its a CV rod, which features a thin long power tip (tip length L)which supplies rich metering 70%-100% of air valve opening and a K hanger to even out the air/fuel mixture. The only way to actually find adequate metering rod/hanger combinations is through trial and error.I believe adding an H hanger will kill performance being its a fairly richer hanger than k.The stock rods for almost any g body with a mircoprocessor contolled carb is DD,which are super lean rods, and the hangers are unjustifilable because they are all different,I've pulled U (super lean) hangers from a buick regal and an M hanger from an 85 cutlass.I had a T hanger in my cutlass and DD's.Since I've filled the stop away on the air valve, the WOT significantly improved. And the stock CFM on a microprocessor controlled carb is 595 to about 650.But by far the easiest improvement to any qjet is changing the rods/hanger.Here's the before and after pics of the modification to the air valve stop.

This is the carburetor/distributor combination i'll run on my cutlass
3793598773_853ed0c472_b.jpg

the carburetor is a rochester quadrajet M4MC from a 1978 olds cutlass with a 350,somehow this carburetor landed on my 73 olds 350 engine which i will put in my cutlass hopefully this year. This carburetor was in decent shape,i planned on using it on my 307 and switching it over to a non computerized controlled engine, but the throttle body is in horrible shape,it needed to be rebushed and needed new linkage.I took a closer look at it after i soaked it in carb cleaner, long story short i refuse to put money in this carb for two reasons-1 being its a later carb then what i expected(I thought it was a 1973 year carb)I rather a matching year engine and carb, and Two-its just not worth putting money into, the main body and most of the air horn are in great shape, but the throttle body is killed and i dont believe i should rebuild it,so i'm taking all the parts out of it and scrapping it.My ideal plans for a carb is a remanned unit from summit for a 1973 olds cutlass supreme with a 350,the same carb originally from this 350.The distributor is an hei unit from a 78 delta with a 350 from the junkyard.I want to upgrade to an hei with my 350.I have a DUI coil in my 307 right now thats for a 350 and i will swap that coil over to this distributor when i put it in.Now the engine,my dad originally bought it for his 83 cutlass last year, but between him working two jobs and having to deal with two 65 cadillacs,he failed to make the swap and sold the cutlass, leaving the engine for my 86 cutlass supreme which was also later sold 😢 .The engine is a 1973 Oldsmobile 350 rocket, with over 100k on it(judging by how worn to cam and valvetrain was)the golden greasy engine sat in my garage for 15 months until i started on it.What i planned on doing with it is swapping it into my salon without any mods or parts, just cleaning the valvetrain, but as soon as i noticed how worn it was and the broken lifter,i second opinioned it.I have a limited amount of money right now seeing as though i dont have a job anymore, money is tight, this engine requires $1500 worth of parts and I'm trying to spare every penny.Since of that case,I will modify the stock intake manifold, making it egr delete and reusing any parts that i can, like the hamonic balancer and oil pan.I want this engine to make at least 350 horsepower and enough torque to put my rear end out to pasture.I'm also not running headers yet, just stock exhaust manifolds til i get another job
