Nothing wrong with Edelbrock in my book big matched ports are the only way to make power the engine has to breath!!
Problem is the swirl port heads have tiny ports. I believe, due to the thin castings, they can only be made a bit larger. My 260 has similar sized ports, the dualjet overwhelms them at full throttle. The open, ram air set up and 2" dual exhaust with 3.42 gears makes it acceptable. The small 500 cfm carb is a smart idea and no doubt helps. Those tiny ports can only take so much air and fuel. Those gauges look great, by the way.

I think my shop had the same idea going into to this. With the 500cfm carb and keeping the exhaust to 2 1/4" which is what the outlets on the manifolds are, it runs great. The ram air was a last minute addition which we all thought would help it. Originally we were going to put the OEM dual snorkel back on, but the fit wasn't great. I have to say they did a great job and it runs as good as it looks. Plus you can now actually see the engine! The trans shop built the trans to match the engine and gears (I have the nice post rear in my car) rather than going for the stage 1 stage 2 that other builders do. All in all I don't think it could have come out any better.

If it's in the thred I must have missed it but were did you move to? In reading the thred I was thinking we are almost neighbors. The shop that built your car is just a few minutes from my house

We moved locally, still in Ocean County NJ - just 2 town up from where we were. I'm still local to you. There is a show in Seaside this weekend (Sunday I think) we are going to debut the car at it. If you are looking for something to do bring your car and let me know, they will let you save spots for people you can park with me. Hopefully the hurricane will stay away, so far the forecast looks great!

Yes, ram air helps. I have it along with 2" dual exhaust on my Olds 260, makes it acceptable. I even had 1 5/8" shorties and 2.5" dual exhaust with a X pipe. It didn't kill the bottom end one bit but only slightly helped so I put that set up on my Olds 350 in my 70S. Great that it turned out so well, I was worried about the whole setup.

Did a few more things just getting ready for tomorrow's show and finishing up some projects of things we had sitting around. I got a new (used but new to me) hood ornament at the Englishtown swap meet in the spring and put that on. Cleaned up and started detailing the engine for the show, and put the gold stripes back on the rims that have been missing for the last 5 years. Next it's off to clean up the interior and shine up the dash and trim.

Had a nice time today in Seaside at the Vintage Auto Club show - even won a trophy! First time I have ever won something at this show. Guess the engine finally did it! Lots of G-Bodies there, all Monte SS's. About 5-6 more in total. I think 3 of them won as well. Gorgeous day, gorgeous weather, but you could not help but thing about everyone in Florida and Texas.
