As Some Of You Guys Know I Am In The Process Of Buidling A SBC 355. I Thought I Would Start A Build Thread As I Finally Obtained All Of The Parts For My Build. It Has Been A LONG 1.3 Years Since I Decided To Pull My SBC 307 and TH350 Trans For A SBC 355 And Saginaw Four Speed Manual Transmission. I Will Be Updating Thread This Weekend As I Am At College And Most Parts Are At Home. Motor Is Going Back To Machine Shop Next Week To Get Rings Regaped So I Can Finally Start Final Assembly On It. Enjoy!

Re: SBC 355 Build

Looking good..........Why did you go with the performer rpm intake instead of the performer rpm airgap???

Re: SBC 355 Build

Thanks Guys

JBreu ---> I Bought The Intake For $130.00 Shipped From The Same Guy I Bought My 492 Cylinder Heads From In MA. Also Want To Keep Stock Hood On My Elky To Give It A Sleeperish Look When Sitting Still At Cruise-Ins, But Want People To Be Scared When I Fire Her Up!

Ritter ---> I Bought The Heads From A Guy In MA. He Owns A G-Body Cutty And Had The Heads On A 383 Proir To Freshing Them Up. As You Can See They Are Fresh. They Are Port and Polished And All Ready To Run. I Can't Wait To Get This Build Done. More Pics With Updated Parts This Weekend, Keep An Eye Out!

I have the air gap on mine and I was surprised my carb sat at the same height as it did with another edelbrock on my old 305...the air gap only looks taller

JBreu ---> I Scored The Heads For $400.00 Bucks. I Should Have About 9.6-9.73:1 Compression Ratio With My Flat Top 2 Valve Relief Speed Pro Pistons.

I Will Be Running A Lunati Voodoo 60103 Cam Shaft. Spec On Cam Are:
•Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 268/276
•Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 227/233
•Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .489/.504
•LSA/ICL: 110/106
•Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
•RPM Range: 1800-6200

All This Talk About My Motor Makes Me Only Want TO Build It Faster. Darn School!

Re: SBC 355 Build

Very nice build. I ran the same combo heads and intake wise, Had 9.7 to 1 compression. Only I had the compH292 cam 501/501 lift car went 12.43 in the 1/4 in a wagon with 3.42 gears. I had a buddy with same identical motor as mine but his car was a stick went 11.97. YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY GOOD LUCK
