BUILD THREAD 1987 Olds 442 Project Build

Because I'm a genius and eliminated my wipers years back, I shaved the wiper stalk smooth so it doesn't have the "push" nub there. Also most will never notice but me, also the tilt lever is from a 3rd gen F body because it looks cleaner.
I was genius and took the wipers off my 77 van will doing body work. Let's just say I needed a squeegee to get home. How in the hell do you own a car without wipers? Up here, that is a one day a year vehicle.

Simple answer.......

Low blow

I was moving the Steering Column and decided to test fit the Lower Bearing kit I got for it (Crown kit CAS4487696K). It seems the bearing is too tight and won't slide down the lower shaft. Anyone else experience this? Does the end of the shaft need to be sanded to get it on?

I installed the CJ / YJ Lower Bearing Upgrade.

Thought I would do it since the column is out and easy to get to. I took the old rubber bushing "stocker" out.

I packed grease into the bearing to help keep moisture and dirt from getting in as well as to lubricate. Then I just snap it into the plastic carrier and install. There's an O-Ring on the inside center of the bearing so I cleaned and lightly oiled the shaft so it would slide on (grow up ). My jack handle worked well to tap it down.

Once it's seated I just add the collar and the retention clip and I'm done.
