BUILD THREAD 1987 Olds 442 Project Build

Make sure you tell them and show them where they need to cut the board for future use. Maybe they can move the upper two LED's out just a hair for clearing the notch.

Done and done! I sent them pics of the original issue along with a micrometer reading for the center recess on the outside (I couldn't get to the inside). I also just sent these recent pics to Matt showing how much had to come off to get them to fit.

I just posted a video to my channel going over the whole thing. If you go right to the end, I function check the operation on both tails (Running Lights, Brake Lights, Hazards, and Blinkers).

Took the sanding disc to my bootleg fan shroud I've been working on. A little more round file action and it'll be ready for some body work, primer, and paint.

I also sand blasted the core support after welding in nuts to be able to thread in the Ring Brothers billet Hood Adjusters (idea shamelessly stolen from Hafrod).

Finally! My Cold Case Radiator came in. It took 2 months, but that's becoming standard during the coof.

Guess I gotta get crackin on that Core Support so I can get all the pieces put together.

Yeah. Nice radiator. But I'm concerned about how exact the fitment is. I also noticed they put the petcock on the passenger side. Was wondering if you had options like to have it where G-bodies typically have them- on the bottom driver side?

I got it through Summit. There were no options.

**Edit*
I did see that I ordered the Rad with the upper hose inlet at 1.50. After looking at my old rad, it has the 1.25 upper (I should have read the fine print better). They have 2 models 1 fits 78-88, 1 fits 80-87. They say both fit the G-Body??

Hey 69hurstolds, got a part # for an 87 442 with 1.50 upper hose? Maybe another year that fits?

Only one hose for an 87 Olds V8.

Have absolutely no idea what hose will fit exactly what you want.

That Dayco hose has a WIDE range of late 60s to 70s engine fitments, but yeah, it has 1.5 showing for both ends.

Hopefully it'll clear the junk you want it to clear. There may be hope here. IIRC, those late 70s 260s had a hose rest bolted to them to hold up the hose about midpoint. Which your upper plate kinda resembles the 260 ones from that era.

Just maybe.....

BUT- before I'd buy a molded hose just yet, I'd get the engine in place, with the peripheals, with radiator in place. Then you'll know what you need to do for clearance.

Agreed. That will be the last piece of the pie to go on. I may even make a custom hose rest for it anyway.

Thank you.

I see you have been talking to 69hurstolds about the hose but I know with my '81 Monte the listed hose was for a 1.5" inlet ('78-'81 SBC) so maybe a '78/'79 H.O. might even have the hose you need.
