Why are you getting rid of the gold stripe? That’s what made the 442 unique. I am assuming you’re talking about the wheels right?
Check my rendering below. I'm transitioning to the Hurst Olds Stripe kit.

The kit (except for cutting the spindle ears off) is completely bolt on.

It comes with hardware to use the existing threaded holes, both spindle and caliper.. My kit was the C5 kit ( I wanted to have a 17 inch wheel option in the future if I chose ).

Below is the video I made going over everything in the kit and my prep to put it on.

I watched several of the videos yesterday & saw where the original ears were cut off but wanted confirmation about not needing to drill for larger hardware for the UMI set-up like some other kits/brackets require. Both ways technically are still "a bolt on" install.

I did not realize UMI's kit utilized the M8 splash shield holes 'as-is' for retention of the adapter brackets so that's a plus vs. trying to accurately drill/tap new, larger holes.
They only mention 'kit hardware is supplied' on the website.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Adding to this....

I knew I'd seen it so I kept digging. Based on the instruction sheets, something has changed. What I don't know is which version is outdated vs. the other. According to the text within the instructions, the splash shield holes are drilled out & tapped for 3/8 - 24 thread:

It looks like that is the newer kit since the website added "Now fits the Wilwood Caliper". Either way, follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.

Well, if you don't have to drill & tap the spindles it's hard to mess them up so I'd agree you can't go wrong. But, if you do have to drill out the splash shield holes for tapping, you could also mess up a spindle.

I've had three different sets of OE spindles in front of me recently. One of the sets drilled/tapped just fine. On another set I did, the OE M8 holes weren't exactly on-center w/the boss/pad on the spindle. Once drilled & tapped for new/larger hardware, it was too thin on one side of the hole for my taste thus the appeal of a kit that uses the OE holes/hardware & why I inquired about the specifics.

Hmmm. I dug out my instruction sheet and it lists the thread size as M8 x 1.25 OR 5/16-24. The new size is 3/8-24. Essentially they went from a 1/2 inch bolt to a 9/16 bolt.

The question is, did they enlarge the hole on the 3046 bracket, or did they just realize that the 9/16 will fit as well.

Why change?

Did the 1/2 inch bolt size present issues in long term testing?

Only UMI knows

Confirmed via a phone conversation this morning that the #3046 bracket kit does require the drill/tap upgrade to larger/stronger 3/8-24 thread hardware. This is the current version. There was an earlier version that utilized the M8 hardware for securing the bracket.

The engineer said this was revised to increase strength (limit flex) of the bracket to abutment bracket tandem.
