Black on Black with the with the 1981 cutlass supreme trim. No half roof. Weld pro stars with some tire in the back. 1.5 to 2" drop. Factory tinted windows. Rear defog delet, antena delet,all olds script delet.The chrome trim ontop of the door deleted.

I believe I've made up my mind that I am going with the HOK black pearl paint and their high end clear. I also don't think I'll be doing the wheel gold but instead just painting the centers black. I still may do a gold accent somewhere but not sure.

At this point I'm still messing with body work. Borrowed my friends stud gun to pull out dents in my doors where I shaved the door handles.
Also been block sanding the car. Decided to buy the 7pc Durablock set and man are those things nice! 🙂

And of course, last Sunday was my only day off from work. Was excited to get out in the barn and work on the car but find out my brand new 80gal, 5HP 240v Craftsman air compressor wouldn't work. Waiting on an electrician to come out and take a look but it sounds like it has a bad capacitor. :evil:

Hi Andrew. The black is going to look veary good on your car. I would do a test on one wheel with the gold trim. Black with chrome wheels looks good on these cars and is very classy. I do not know about the gold on the rims how that will look.Cars is going to look killer in black.

I was browsing around the other day and found these wheels on Bonspeed's website:

I thought they looked pretty cool and actually somewhat similar to an SSIII. Could be painted very close to match anyway with those small indentions in the face of the spokes. They could painted with the gold inlay's similar to the 442's or even just black like my original SSIII's.

Yeah. I'm not going to stick with the TTII Classic wheels I have on the car at the moment. I bought them mostly because they were cheap (relatively speaking) and somewhat easy to get. Allowed me to mock up the wider tires. But eventually I want to go with something bigger than 17's. The more I see them on the car, the smaller they look. :lol:

How about the new hurst wheels they look good. How big is to big for the olds g body and how small is to small because I just bought a set of 1979 14" HO wheels? I will also have a set of pro stars.I bought the HO wheels because I thought they were some what rare and looked okay, but they are on the small side.

I think 14" is still ok for a stock or near-stock look, you can still get a reasonably tough appearance with 14s so long as the sidewall bulge is there 😉 I probably wouldn't get a set of 14s with black sidewalls though, gotta go with white lettering imo 8)

I agree, 14's can still look good with the right size tire. I had 245/60R14's on my stock 14" SSIII's for years and they always looked decent. Would have looked better if they were pushed out further towards the fender/quarter lips.

This was my '87 back when I had the 14's:

It also depends on what model as well. I think the Regal's and Monte's can get away with a larger rim (visually) easier because of their wheel well shape compared to the Cutlass.
The biggest I plan to go would be 20's in the back and 19's in the front. One issue is trying to keep some sidewall with the larger rim which means you have to stray from the stockish 26" total diameter. And of course going larger is going to raise the car a bit more but these cars don't have much room to be lowered in the rear. I believe you have roughly 2" of bump travel in the suspension of a G-body which doesn't leave you a lot of room to work with.
