1990 S15 Jimmy value

Just naturally how it all goes, just like how I was surprised there was a ton of great feedback on the Monte but now the GTO is "old" enough to be drawing attention for how clean and cool it is. They will all eventually turn into the 69 Chargers and Camaros with the prices to match for good condition
It’s funny, the kid I bought the wrecked 79 H/O swears it’s worth like $300. Meanwhile, I bought that car for less than the shifter is worth. Haha

So it wound up the guy wanted $2000, which meant $1000 cash from me due to some other factors, for this thing non running. The parts list I made up was already at a $1200 rough estimate so I passed on it.

Sadly, I just now found this thread. That truck has the super-rare bellhousing that fits a V8, since the 4.3 is 3/4 of a 350. It will have the small car-size bearing retainer hole.

I also wonder if it has a world-class T5 behind a 4.3 that late in the T5 era.

Why would a v8 bell housing be so rare? Even if it’s a t5 the truck is 4wd.

All has to do with supply and demand.

That transmission is a $400-500 core, and rebuilt is a $2500-3200 unit. And that's not counting the bellhousing.

It is what it is. Less trucks, lots of the ones built were 2.8s with the 60* pattern, people want that normal pattern stuff to swap to v8.

End of the day, each project needs to be worth to you what you put into it, that's all that matters. $1000 out of pocket for a rust free 4x4 MT 1st gen? If I were in market it'd be a done deal for me, but, not in the market either. Too much junk, too many projects sitting.

GM V8 bellhousings for hydraulic clutches in the 80s/90s were either for the F-body with the transmission tilted 18 degrees toward the driver to accommodate the low seating position. Or, they were in a truck, that while 'upright', were cast for the bigger input bearing retainer. A Tremec will drop right into the S10 bellhousing. No big deal if it was not your plan anywsy.

Update: My neighbor wound up getting the truck running, it runs great. Needs a paint job and tires but it is solid. I should’ve scooped it up for $700, his friend is asking $5k now. Seems high, but I thought $1400 was high before.

I'd say with the fall 4x4 premium coming into swing he's probably going to get that 5k or close to it. Paint won't hut the price but someone may try to argue him down over the tires, depending how bad they are.
