I was hoping some one might have some time to snap a few pics of the left side frame mounting point for the transmission crossmember, I have a 1979 cutlass im converting to a 2004r I have a crossmember from a newer car but I would like to see what the newer frame looks like and where it mounts on the left side so I can make something similar. I bolted it up on the right side and to the trans and with engine and trans in the correct spot the crossmember seems low on the left that's why I would like a few pics thanks steve

Why not just pick up, or make a left side frame extension? If I can recall, you need a piece of 1 x 3 rectangular tubing...approx. 12" long..maybe longer. I had all the measurements, but ended up deleting it.
At any rate, you'd have to drill and bolt the extension to the existing frame rail for strength and rigidity.

You'll need a piece about 14" long. I picked up 1 x 2-1/2" square tube, and if you can wait a few days, I send you the pattern. I got a Jeg's 200-4R crossmember and have to rework the driver's side hump - it hits the floorboard in a big way.

If you have a sheetmetal brake, you could also replicate the OEM crossmember mount to make an extension as well.

that's what I want to do but with everything in place and a level on the trans mount surface the left side of the crossmember is low and is not in line with the surface that the original one was mounted to that's why I wanted to see a pic if its suspost to be there or not it looks like the adapter mount is just a flat bar so it makes me think the crossmember is tweeked

maybe the pics will explain better why I want to see pic

I actually have a H.D. Iceman crossmember and frame extension for a 200-4R. It's packed away, but I may pull it back out and take pics and measurements of the extension.

The square tubing can be obtained from a shop that sells all types of metals. If there's nothing local to you, I've seen a few places online that could cut it to size, but you'd have to drill the holes for mounting.

I assume you have the bottom edge of each frame rail the same height off the floor (level). What is the difference in crossmember mount height from side to side? Just curious. The end of your crossmember is exactly where the Jegs crossmember ends up on the driver's side!

about 3\4 13\16 off I can move it up inline where the original mount surface is but then the trans mount surface is unlevel, so is the newer frame just extended on the left or is the 2004r mount lower than the front mount surface? this is why I need to a pic, I might just junk yard hunt till I find one to look at
