OK I was in the process of installing a 200 4r (had a 350turbo) in my 83 cutlass, I had to buy a G force crossmember because the stock one wont work.(nice surprise)
My problems are.......location of transmission mount still doesnt line up(crossmember is further back) is there an adapter to correct this? also the G force member will not sit on top of the frame rail extension on the driver side. T
he crossmember hump is pushing on driverside floor board and it needs to be atleast an inch higher than that. could this be bodymount related??
advice is needed!!!!
I didnt take any photos yet. I may post them if the need is there.

You have a few options. 1) Get the frame perch from a donor vehicle and weld it in (best option). G bodies 84 and up have it. Check with 88hurstolds, he had one for sale a while back. 2) Go to your local steel supply house and buy a section of 1" x 2.75" rectangular stock which will bolt right into place (next best option) or 3) buy the adapter from gbodyparts.com which is basically a piece of steel that you can buy at at steel supply house.

that '83 didn't already have a 200r4? what about the lightning rods?
Only if the 83 was a Hurst/Olds. Otherwise, the extension wasn't there from the factory. In 84, they all got the extension regardless of transmission.

ok gentleman I need to rephrase my questions... I purchased the frame extension with the crossmember.
The crossmember WILL NOT sit on top of the extension, the crossmember hits the floor on the driverside. could the bodymounts allow the body to sag 1.5 inches? (the frame is solid) the transmount now sits in front of the crossmember due to the new location could i have the wrong tailshaft on the transmission?
Do I need to fab up a plate to bridge the gap?
I will get some pics on here tomorrow.

post pics, my memory fails me when it come to working on g-bodies, its been a while for me but im sure a few others in here can answer your question without the need for a pic

Sounds to me like you have the wrong crossmember. When installed, does the frame extension run parallel to the frame? Body mounts can certainly sag but I doubt 1.5". Some pics would be helpful.

Is the after market extension supposed to slide INTO the factory perch and not bolted to the top or bottom of it?
That can possibly explain the 1.5" difference.
