hey gues,so i got two 200-4r's sitting in my garage being rebuilt, ones a performance oz code from a hurst 442 the other a kcf from a 86 el camino.anyway digging into the valve bodies to clean and free them up i noticed a few differences in the valves themselves due to one being performace and one being run of the mill the curious thing to me anyway is the fact the valves from the kcf transmission seem to be beefier than the ones in the oz.
my question is what the hell lol,id think bigger valves would mean higher pressures...maybe due to the chevy engine being able to rev higher than the olds but i confess aside from my atsg and my low level of transmission expertise i really dont know.i have included some pics to show the difference, the valves on the left are from the kcf and the ones on the right from the oz.i notice the ones for the kcf are bigger all around with much more noticeable ridges instead of the small bumps on the oz trans, and the tcc plug on the oz has an extra passage...anyway summarized are the bigger valves from the non performance valve body better actually?there is only one year difference between the two as well.
