are they the same for 1st and 2nd?
also whats the highest gear they put a 2004r in front of. i'm asking because i'm eyeballing a 2004r install before or after i get a buick 350 (pretty much stock) but before i get another gear as really dont like the idea of higher operating RPMs with this sucky dualjet.
what i'm considering is getting a 2004r, a lower gear like 3.73 with a 28 inch tall tire so the final drive ratio would act very close to what it is now, 2.41 currently with 2.49 a 3.73 gear and .67 od gear.
here's the math i did, if the 200 i had when i bought the car had the same 1st and 2nd gear ratios as the 2004r then i had 6.6 (2.41 x 2.74) original drive ratio, less than stellar. this is with a 25.5 inch tall tire. my final drive ratio would be 2.41.
with a 3.73 the gearing would be 10.2 which is .85 higher than a 3.42 gear at 9.37. now because i know i want a taller tire to fill in the wheel wells better i factored in tire height changes and a tire 2.5" taller would allow me to go up from a 3.42 gear to 3.73 gear have an even better original drive ratio.
now i had read 9-10 was good for street cars and 10-up is better suited for race cars, so my original 6.6 sucked balls. with a th350 it's at a lowly 6.0 and it's even worse. not much difference between the th350's 2.52 gear and the 2004r's 2.74 but that little bit dropped it by .6, nearly a 10th of the original.
i HATE my current gearing. it just sucks all around. i feel like a slug on the street. it's takes forever to get up to speed.
