I got a good price on a 92 Chevy 350 TPI motor. The motor was attached to a TH350 trans, but the guy said it was slippin. I was thinking of puttin it in my 86 Cutty, but I don't think the 200r trans attached to my 307 is one of the multi bolt patterns, so I'm in a delimma. Do I fix the TH350 or get a 700r. Seen 700s for round $200-300 on local Craigslist. Another question is do 700r's have the lockup option like the 200s(Will I have to run one of those lockup relays or whatever)? Will the 700 bolt up to the stock trans crossmember? Will the TH350 bolt up to the stock trans crossmember? Will the drive shaft have to be shortened for either? Just tryin to weigh options. Thanx.
Yeah, the 700r4 is a lock up transmission. It is also longer than the 350 and 200 so the crossmember will have to be modified and the driveshaft shortened.
Actually you should have a 200-4R which is an overdrive like the 700-R4. Stock its slightly weaker only a little more efficient and with better gear spacing and a lil taller overdrive. Anyway someone on here should be able to confirm it but I believe that it doeshave the universal pattern that will fit both BOPC (Buick Olds Pontiac Cadillac) and Chevy. If you plan to abuse it you will want to add a good shift kit such as what CKPerformance sells.
Nah, I dont want to abuse it, just want a little more hp and fuel economy. Figured the TPI setup would give me a little of both worlds. Plus it looks cool.
