333882 heads/ voodoo or comp cams 262

I've pretty much narrowed down my choices since I've been reading posts all day about different cams. I'm more of a torque kinda guy, so I'm looking at either Comp Cams xe262 or lunati voodoos 262. Does anyone run these cams?

I was eyeballing the xe268 as well but am not sure how radical this cam is.

Then i started reading up on comp cams XE line creating a lot of valve chatter because of the valves hitting the seats so hard. Whether this is true, idk. That's when I looked at voodoo and people say they have a larger exhaust lift and have less valvetrain noise.

Need input on these cams and my heads working with them.

Bad idea I an a XE262 on my 305 with a set of fully ported and angle milled 041 cylinder heads and it fell on its face at about 5700rpm. Thats with 36 degrees of timing and a 750 holley carb. it makes alright power down low but is a little small for a 350. I'm running the XE268 in my 350 now and its bumps a little bit and it pulls clear to about 6200 and is by no means super radicle. But I would like to run a larger cam like a 280h or a solid roller. I would say the XE268 would be the smallest you would want to go a 270H and the 280H I think would be better choices but you will probly have to up the stall to about 2000 or 2500 to run the 280H. and the 882 are plenty good street heads and are decent performing heads. with a 2.02 1.6 valve set up you should have no problem. It should be a very decent and respectable set up. The most head flow you will gain is how the short turns on the cylinder heads are shaped. Gasket matching does help but its not a substantial flow gainer ask any reputable engin shop.

i have a XE274H in my 383. the valve noise is very slight. and compcams has proven that it does NOT cause any damage to the valvetrain. the engine has power everywhere and spins the tires with 1/4 throttle or less. you don't need to hold the brakes for a smoke show, at all. and it pulls through 6k. but it might be too large for a street 350. i'm not sure because i was told it was too big for my 383 but i wish i'd gone with at least the 282. but i'd expect the 274 to lope quite a bit on yours, mine has just enough to be noticeable at around 650rpm, drop it to 500 and there's alot more. but it delivers 14+in of vacuum which is great.
IIRC the thumper series has a great loppy sound but great low end power. might be worth checking into.

I was also looking at the summit version that comes close to the voodoos 262 cam since it is cheaper. I'm running a 2000 stall TH350 and 373 gears so I can handle a number of cams and I know the heads are a pretty decent set of irons. When I pulled the engine this winter I'm going to do a little more port work not much though. The old man has me convinced that the only time you need to do major port work is when your going for every tenth of a second in the quarter.
