Hey guys I've been sticking parts back for a 383 I'm throwing together to go in my 81 4 door malibu. The car is basically stock weight (I plan on getting a fiberglass hood, already have plastic race seats, and eventually trimming a little more weight) Car is basically a low budget weekend toy that I wanna bracket race eventually. Right now it has a 60 over 350 with flat tops, vortec heads and a 650 dp. With my current th350 and 4.10 gears it runs alright considering it was basically put together from stuff I had laying around. But all the while I've had images of grandeur involving a 383. So over the course of 2 years I've managed to acquire: A set of rhs aluminum heads 210 runners 64cc chambers with 2.02/1.60 valves, cast stroker crank, a set of 6 inch H beam rods with keith black forged pistons. A powerglide with a pro tree that needs rebuilt, and a 010 4 bolt block thats fresh from the machine shop and already prepped for the stroker assembly. When I picked my stuff up from the machine shop the other day (balanced) the guy said I was looking at around 11:1 compression with my heads. So the million dollar question would be what would the cam of choice be for my car with 4.10 gears a powerglide with about a 3500 stall with a aluminum headed 383 with a static compression of about 11:1. Right now I plan on using a performer rpm intake with maybe a spacer and the 650dp until I can upgrade. As for ignition I got one of those mallory comp 9000 distributors with a 6al box. Exhaust is pretty straight forward, just headers with glasspacks bolted on (I've already notched and welded up my crossmember). Car will basically be a once a month bracket racer with very little street time. Machinist said 6500 but I'd like to keep the rpms down to around 6000. And since its an 010 block it will be flat tappet, thanks in advance for any input.
