Has anyone had or know if you can switch out roller rocker arms for standard without doing anything else.
I had my engine built and they put the new comp roller rocker arms and they’re just too noisy there’s too much clatter and I don’t like it, can I just switch them out for stock or something different that a quiet it down. I appreciate all the good advice I get from this site.

The roller rockers on my 383 are quiet. Check the lash. If yours is a crate motor they may be adjusted conservatively and could probably go another 1/4” turn at least. I’ve seen this on some of the GM crates.

Hydraulic lifters and I had a performance engine place build it for me turn key. So I feel like I’ve just got it broke in how would you adjust the lifters after the break in. Thanks for the replies.

My experience is that the cam profile has more to do with the noise than rocker. I've got a couple of noisy engines that have aggressive cams. An LS with stock everything except the cam is much noisier than stock. I think lift bar lifters also make some noise.

Personally, I can't to concerned about some valvetrain noise on a 'built' motor.

the cam is all torque 10 to 1 compression, and it’ll be OK to adjust those with the valves pumped up with oil I’ve never done this type of thing and it scares me a little bit. But I am glad to hear that they’re not supposed to make noise. I’ll give it a try and see what happens and check the valve covers also. Thanks

I’d strongly recommend discussing this with the builder of your turn key motor. Has it always made this ‘noise’ or is this something new. Any idea on the lifters that are installed? Some lifters are not adjusted the same as others - I’d guess these are somewhat normal lifters, but the old guidance of a 1/2 or 3/4 of a turn depends on the rocker stud threads per inch of threads as well.

it would be highly recommended to find out what parts are in this. Again, implying contact the builder or pull out the build sheet.
