I wouldn't do that. I would fix the factory lights. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I personally like the look of the factory third brake light and installed one in my 83' Monte for a more modern look along with the added safety of having it placed in the center up higher plus since that is what it was designed for there is no glare. Nothing wrong with looking "factory" in this case.
It also would not surprise me if there is some legal issue of not having a factory installed third brake light but it seems unlikely that would be enforced.

I dont have vehicle inspections where I live so no biggie... I was just throwin out ideas for everyone.. I know that not everyone will like it but it's different and cheap the same way I like my women..

I think its a pretty cool reuse of them... less of an obstruction for sure... might even be able to integrate them up on top and use the inner window trim to hide them somewhat. The Red glare might actually add to its visibility at night, lighting up the entire window.
