Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Got the crossmember all painted up. Taking the car to a guy tomorrow and he'll make the necessary mods to install the exhaust with those funky-*ss headers

Gonna run the "monte" tails until I can afford to get them modified tu dump out the sides.

Also figured out my edelbrock carb is the reason why it wouldn't start half the time. Got a holley on it now and it runs real good 8)

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Finally home from College!! Picked up the car yesterday. Got a new vac. advance on it cause the old one was bad. Drove around quite a bit, and need to figure out why its overheating. the guy who put the exhaust on tuned the carb. and timed it, so it should be on... guess I have to check the thermostat. Time for pics...

I wasn't too sure on the way the tails dumped at first, But I'm starting to like them 8) Tried to get an exhaust video but it turned out real bad, I'll get another later.

Is there anything I can paint the welds with that will stop them from rusting besides header paint? Any tips on getting those stickers off?

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

I think the exhaust tips look good. I bet it sounds great!

Any high-temp paint will be fine on those welds. I think exhaust places typically use some sort of zinc rich paint IIRC...

As for over-heating... What are you running for a radiator? Is your fan clutch original?

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

the overheating was the el-cheapo mr. gasket thermostat its goin back to the shelf at autozone... I'm currently not running a t-stat, and its been fine.

I have 101 miles on the new motor right now 8)

Now for the bad news: The transmission slips when it shifts between gears. I changed the fluid and filter back when i had the 3.8 and apparently i lost a lot of fluid somehow. i realized this when it started slipping. so I topped it off hoping that would fix it, but no luck. My friends dad said it might be the vac. modulator. Any ideas? it doesnt slip as much when you get on it, but it slips mostly on the transition from 2nd to 3rd.
