Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

So it's been a pretty good spring break so far. I have my old exhaust off, the engine is running again (bad igniton module) my TV cable is hooked up correctly so my transmission should shift correctly now.

I'm working on the brake lines from the master cylinder to the prop valve... what a pain in the *ss... I can't get the fittings to thread into the valve :blam: After those are done (sometime tomorrow), I'm gonna do the fuel line in hard line instead of the big rubber piece.

I'm going to give the car to a buddy to fab up the brackets for the crossmember, mount that, and install the exhaust. I think that will save me a ton of headache in the long run.

Also installed a new water pump gasket because the old one leaked.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Got the fuel in hard-line now, brakes are all hooked up too. We're gonna bleed them tomorrow (thats the last thing besides the crossmember and exhaust) . It runs like a top now! Starts right up cold, no hesitation, idles awesome when its warm too

Just waiting for my buddy to stop by and check things out to see if he can tackle it.

I'm so excited! everything came together in the past 3 days  . I just wanna put some miles on the thing.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

We need fresh pictures!

Glad to hear you're making some progress... Always the best way to spend spring break.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

This is the extension bracket I made for my TV cable. I had to grind the head of the bolt down to clear the EGR delete plate

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Jeep steering shft is in now. Had to use a bar clamp to get it to collapse  Looks right at home and really clean 8)

Gonna bleed the brakes real quick here. After that I'm done with it, just have to wait for my buddy to find the time to do the exhaust and crossmember.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Took a little roadtrip today. Went to a pick-a-part a little north of pittsburgh. They only had 2 G's, but I grabbed a 1 piece shroud. Makes it look 1000x better IMO...

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Looks good!

That shroud looks better because it is the correct shroud for an Olds motor.

You had a Chevy motor shroud on there before... 😛

Now you just need a NOS pair of coolant and washer fluid resevoirs to top off that nice looking engine compartment!
I got a pair off eBay a couple years ago for like $40.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

 Yeah, I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for the resevoirs. Still have a little painting and detailing to do in there, but other thn that I love it!

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Looks good so far, though i would watch out with that spectre adjustable throttle bracket, heard no matter how tight the bolts are, they still will start to twist like they're loose. What kind of crossmember are you using,i have heard of the 2004r x members being used on the th350s,since the tailshafts are the same length (if its the short tailshaft).

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Thank for the heads up. I'll keep checking it, maybe i'll have to rig something up to keep it stable.

I'm really not sure what trans that crossmember is for all i know is that it is out of some type of big-body chevy. an A body of some type. I have to shorten it so it will fit within the framerails. Then I'm gonna weld a piece of angle iron on each side and bolt the angle to the inside of the framerails. I'm not gonna do that work, that will be done by the guy thats doing my exhaust too.
