I did not. I said I took the old fluid out, and put it back in after straining the leaves out of it. I topped it off with new, only about 3/4 of a quart. Also I put a new filter in and pan gasket. And yes I put the filter gasket on.

The torque converters themselves are pretty durable, and should outlive any transmission as long as they haven't been to the drag strip for a few seasons or had a bunch of metal from a grenades transmission pumped into them. It is possible that running with less than adequate flow to the pump for a while could have damaged the bands by allowing them to slip on the drums. It would depend on how long and how hard it was driven since it was installed.
Oh I beat the sh*t out of it with the other engine, and too a lesser extent this one. Never anything stupid like neutral drops or anything, but popping it into 1st and scaring the sh*t outta people (under 40mph), and in general hard driving. I mean, it could be either or (trans or TC). It's acting like the TC is shot, this trans is not acting like my other Th350 that was slipping. But, I don't know. I think I'm just gonna be on the safe side and replace the trans AND TC, whether it's a new TC or a good used one. Plus, I think I found the guy I bought my TH350 from. He's got Th350s and converters stacked up like cordwood at reasonable prices, with a guarantee. Plus, I know were he lives.
if the guy who sells you the transmission with a warranty reads how you abuse the transmission don't be surprised when you show up with a busted transmission that he tells you that you have voided the warranty
I know. It's a 30 day warranty. He's a decent guy. I wouldn't try and stiff him over my jackassery. If I break it, it's my fault. If it starts slipping as soon as I leave the driveway, it's on him.
I screwed my 400 hp rated, not even close, torque converter at the the track on slicks. It took revs to move and suddenly would go. Acted like a rubber band.

Same here. Shifts fine, takes 2k rpm on the dot to get er goin. It is NOT popping out of gear, but the TC won't hold the car anymore. I was on a very slight hill and was rolling backwards in Drive. Gave it throttle, it came back and off I went. Did NOT pop out of gear.
