78 cutlass W-31 build

A bad modulator has been known to suck ATF into the engine, causing much smoke. It will definitely cause a late shift. When our modulator went bad in our 75 Cutlass, we manually shifted gears. Try blocking the hose off and manually shifting the trans.

Yah, that is not a good sign. Too bad, you weren't close. I would help you getting running right and give you the TH350 behind my 260. I need find a 2004R for the 88, the 3.42 gears and dual exhaust make it passable acceleration wise. On the highway it sucks, I figure 25 mpg will be very possible highway, it will run at 1750 rpm vs the current 2800 rpm with the TH350. I need to check the close wreckers for a 2004R. There is one about 3 hours away, a guy is selling. As long as it is not on it's last legs, it will live forever behind the 260.

Just got home from a long day of running.well lots of driving anyway. First thing this morning I set out from home and went to the steel place in wall to pick up some C-chanel for the square body then I shoot up to North Jersey and picked up the carberetor all freshly custom built to my engine. Of course I had to do what the wife wanted so after battling all the shore traffic to get home it was switch to her Subaru and take the family to the other side of Philly to a party somewhere up 611. Well after my 7+ hours driving today I'm finally home ad took some pictures of what I'm doing in the morningView attachment 72387 View attachment 72388so wish me luck I'm at it again lol
611 is not too far from, I may have to take a road trip your way in a few weeks with the wagon[emoji3]

There use to be a Sunoco that sold the race gas on 611. Any idea if it is still there?

Not that I'm aware of.

I used to get my race gas right here in Brick at a Sunoco on the corner of midstream and RT 88 but it recently became a bp and the good gas was replaced with Diesel
