I said piss on the pipe idea. I have zero patience and it was taking too long to cut with my tired *ss sawzall. Nonetheless, I got them installed. That Energy Suspension grease is a SOB to clean off your hands btw. It's like friggin guerrilla snot or something.

I used various old sockets to prevent the arm from collapsing the arm when installing the bushings i did put them in the freezer for a few hours, it was nice using the press at the shop though... 😀 I went ahead and powdercoated mine silver though....

thats how i replaced the lowers on my s10

Its all a learning process 😀 coming out nicely.i opted to buy a bushing remover/installer from hnr. Parts and stuff.this tool i cannot elaborate enough on! works great an for 90.00 i highly recomend it to anyone doing this suspension work on a gbody.i wanted to ask you where you picked up the lil red plugs/caps for your steering box and spindles?have been wanting to get some, but haven't been able to locate some?,thanks and carry on.

"I said piss on the pipe idea" - HA HA. I have a lot of patience so I fashioned some really nice spacers that I keep in the box with the big "C" clamp. I used a cut-off wheel to cut the pipe up and they fit right over the bushings. I tried using PVC pipe and while it worked, they bent somewhat and I was afraid they would shatter and hurt me. Those parts look better than new! Good work.

Carry on aye aye sir

I don't even remember where I got the ones for the steering box because they were laying around. I've since used a few .18 cent corks from a hardware store instead so they won't pop out. The spindles already came with them. If you know any wine drinkers, those corks are good for plugging trans dipstick holes.

The pipe would have worked great. My old Milwaukee sawzall (not Old Milwaukee beer  ) has been in service since the 90's and she's seen better days. Add cheap chinesium HF blades and the results are nil.

I don't think I have one of my uppers seated squarely though. When I go to tighten the cross shaft bolt, the bushing in the forward end pushes outward to about a 1/8" gap and it doesn't seat completely. I don't want to crank on it anymore until I get a better look at it.

Thanks. The KBS Coating I'm using is supposed to be satin black. I didn't think the uppers looked good enough so I smoothed them out some more, resprayed them in gloss black and added some clear. Here's what it looks like now. I just focused on the flat areas, not so much anywhere else.

Thanks I appreciate it. I know what you mean being stretched for time too. My daughter lives with me now and I feel like I haven't had a break since.
