Thanks. It's one of those things that I don't ever want to worry about again on this car and that's why I'm going through the trouble to do this.

If you never want to have to worry about your brake lines again use the cunifer brake line. It's a bit more expensive than steel but it never corrodes and it can easily be formed by hand.

Thanks. I hope my frame looks have as good as that when I'm done. I'd love to do tubular a-arms at some point but it's not in the budget nor a necessity right now.

They do cost a little more but it sounds good. I was actually eyeballing the stainless tubing from Summit.

My daily motivation:

Noticed my seat switch looking kinda shitty
1978GrandPrix144.jpg

Introduced it to the buffing wheel and we're in business

Frame prepped for coating

Plastic wrap is the key to keeping this stuff from hardening

Driver's side done

Inside frame rail, minus the crossmember mounting area. I have a 200-4R mounting pad from crossmembers.com and I plan to install it before I finish coating everything.

After cleaning about a pound of mud/clay out of the crank pulley I decided to try my hand at a little at-home powder coating. I started with the outer ring and it turned out ok minus a little orange peel. I got a hold of an old toaster oven to cure it and it worked fine. I'm more concerned with durability than creating a show piece anyway.

This is the powder I used

After stripping the paint

BS cardboard spray booth  The piece of hanger you see doubled as a ground instead of clipping the ground directly to the part itself.

Toaster oven action after coating (with high tech part holder). I only did the exposed side since this was my first try with it.

After curing at 390 deg for 10 mins

Already stripped this one, will post more after coating

I'm happy with the results of the pulley. Moving on to the other one now. I painted the rear end while I was out there too.
