MALIBU 78 Malibu wagon.

Good for you! Gotta use ingenuity these days. Kudos to you. That should do the trick. 👍

So measure the OEM tank, adjusted and squared it up.. will need to delete/modify spare tire well for this.

OEM roughly 21" wide at the rear and 16" wide up front up top but 20" on the front bottom..

Think one could push ~42" wide before getting into issues..

Basically i made a 36" wide, 23" long 14" box. With a 14" long 4" high wedge removed from the bottom rear to replicate the OEM version.

At 100% capacity..

At 36" wide, the 4"x14"x36" wedge has a volume of ~1007ci or 4.3gl
The 36"x23"x14" box has a volume of 11,592 ci or 50.1 gallons.
Remove the wedge volume of 4.3gl and it's 46gl
At ~ 90% fill volume puts capacity ~41gl.
That would give one a solid 35-38 useable gallons vs the 12-14 useable gallons factory has.

There's a few retro in-tank pump into that can reach 15" most stop about 12"
