That engine should be a pretty good foundation. All were one piece rear seal, most were 4 bolt mains and roller cam compatible. My suggestion would be a good rebuild on the short block and a complete top end kit. That way you know the parts are matched to each other and the combo has already been dynoed. Follow the formula and you'll know the exact power output.
