Looks like my alternator is charging, first photo is car off and second photo with it running. With is running, looks around 15 volts. So my oil pressure guage and voltage guage have a issue somewhere.

Probably loose terminals in the back of the cluster. I have two gauges in my car that work, or are supposed to. And one of them is always a dash tap away from working correctly. The factory connection to the green ribbon in the dash is laughable.

It worked great in the 80’s, but Geesh, it sucks in todays standards.

Ah oh yes that. Okay, mine could be corroded or torn. I have no dash lights either so something is up

I broke out the Hanes book, it claims the instrument panel lights are a 5 amp fuse. I cannot find it in my fuse block and the wording is worn out, hard to read any

So I am looking at the thread about front suspension. Trying to figure which springs. I think it should be the 5662. Even tho it's a sbo, it has iron heads. Am I thinking 5660 might not be heavy enough. Also thinking of stiffer springs in the back

Instead of using a fusable link, could I use an inline 20 amp fuse instead and install closer to the alternator than installing fuseable link at the starter?

I've used them but was told not to. I was told the inline fused arrangement can get 'cooked' to the point it's able to pass current where a fusible link will fail completely. In my head I was not 100% convinced of that argument but I'm not an advanced electronics/wiring guy either so I felt better safe than sorry. I opted to put the fusible links in just to protect my investment.

Okay note taken, could I move that fuseable link further up towards the alternator?
