I got it guys,
The actuator lever is shaped like an L with a 90 deg. One leg goes to the cable and the other leg attaches to the threaded rod. There is one other piece I had to scrounge from a junk yard and that's a tiny plastic piece that pinches the threaded rod and sticks through a hole in the leg of the actuator. All is well now and I have heat!
