Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 11/28/14 Electrical!

Interesting that it doesn't come with those ADC channels broken out to some connector already. Maybe I missed this info, but are you planning on using these for a WB? I guess you could use them for any 0 V-5 V sensor but I am just curious what were your plans.

The systems seems to provide most function anybody could want. I like the ability to reflash over USB. Its something every after market CPU should be able to do. The developers also seem to know their stuff.

Drogg1, I actually like how the ADC channels were left alone. Different people have them in use different ways along with different ECM mounts. I actually ran the channels to unused pins on the ECM plugs, and then to a short harness with a 9 Pin molex connector. I can keep the ECM fastened tight in the kick panel and not worry about access.

I will be using 2 ADC channels for now, one for my Innovate WB, and the other will tie into the Autometer fuel pressure transducer.

I have been running the EBL for my TBI in my other wagon since it came out, I love the system, everything one would need to control is in there. The system is cheap and uses GM sensors. And the support is top notch.

I got more curious after I posted and read through their website. I now understand why they did the ADC channels how they did. I like your plans to keep it tucked away.

It seems like the software allows for useful datalogging and visualization as well as tuning. I would look into that over something like Megasquirt if I was in your position being that, as you've experienced, it seems like a very easy to use and powerful system.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 11/28/14 Electrical!

I have looked into the megasquirt, but, this SFI-6 EBL is geared specifically for the Buick Turbo 6, though it could be used on others. I am also getting the coil on plug upgrade for it.

I'll be running a small shot of n2o for spool up-up, and alky after that. Double fuel pumps, 1 and 3 bar MAP, wide band, the list goes on. What is great is with the carPC, I can change the tune on the fly through the touchscreen and run a low boost low octane tune during the work commute. 😀

Got the valve springs and guide seals done. The original springs are pretty worn, these new ones should give me a few hundred rpm. I also used the RJC Racing rocker shaft braces, cheap insurance I suppose to keeping the rocker shaft clamped down tight.

Passenger side all buttoned up.

Driers side all buttoned up.

New spring next to a well worn exhaust spring. The stock intakes were a bit stronger than the exhaust, but the heights were all over the place.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 11/28/14 Electrical!

Monday the 1st was a really warm day, about 65 degrees, so I took some time to blast the peeling powder coat off the valve covers 😡 , and blast and paint the valve covers, driveshaft loop I made, and the flex plate cover. I am using the same PPG paint I used on all the suspension. Trying to get everything to match.

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 11/28/14 Electrical!

While waiting for the paint to cure, I started to look and see what it would take to get the Buick inner wheel wells on the Olds fenders. The mounting is completely different, but I like the stronger fiberglass reinforced plastic panels from the Buick, and they have all the mounting points for I need for things like the power steering reservoir, cruise servo bracket, etc.

You can see above how the inner fenders are totally different, and the Buick is actually two pieces, the inner fender and the outer. I haven't decided on how I will do it just yet. I may just cut the flange off the Olds fender, and make a new flange to mount the Buick inner fender. The space left over between the inner well and the fender lip I can make a steel, most likely fiberglass, filler, with enough room for wide tire clearance.

Just throwing it out there, I am toying with the idea of using the stock wheelwell molding on the front and rear, and just painting it black. Soooo, if anyone has anything laying around in OK shape, I'll be painting/coating it anyway.

Just section the Buick inner to the Olds outer... should be pretty straight forward, just have to invest the time.

Did your car have the wheel well moldings on it when you got it?
The rears should be the same between Buick and Olds.
The fronts I'm not so sure about... I'd have to flip thru my pictures of my Buick.
I have an extra LF molding, and can probably wrangle up the rest in the spring if need be...

Keep up the good work!

Just looked thru some pictures of my old Buick wagon and the front moldings are definitely different, but the rears do look the same.

I was thinking the same thing. Just sectioning the flange I need to fit the inner on, and then covering the rest with either a fabbed steel part or fiberglass. There is a kit that modifies the stock GN inner fender right by the wheelwell lip to allow for wide tire clearance. You ultimately cut out the metal part of the inner fender wheelwell area. Since the Olds fender doen't have anything here to begin with, I can make something similar to that kit. Hard to explain sorry. :?

The car did not have any moldings on it when I got it. I am sure the fronts would be different. But, I do have front moldings that came with Olds fenders when I bought them, so I think I can straiten them out good for paint. I would need rears, and if you find anything you might have laying around and would be willing to part with, that would be awesome!! I am going to paint them so they don't have to be perfect and shiny.

Thanks again Blake!!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 11/28/14 Electrical!

I think I can arrange some moldings for you.
I always thought the wheel well moldings were stainless, but I didn't realize until I started cutting mine that they were aluminum like the rest of the trim.
I had to tap out a few damaged areas when I was fitting them, and was pleased with how quickly it came around versus lots of the other trim I've restored in the past.

I'm gonna get smart the next time I head to the yard and bring my drill, since the screws never want to let go for me...
