BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Jim,
I kinda figured the squirters were the same for left and right, only for the metal mounting bracket to mount the right side.

I agree with you. If my car was a 2-dr, I probably would have painted the hinge posts and jambs with the doors mounted. Those 2-dr. doors are heavy bastards compared to 4-dr/ wagon doors.

Precisely why I'm painting mine with the doors on...
Stripped the bolts bare so they wouldn't get chewed up during installation.
Shot a little sealer on them once they were where I wanted them and they'll get nice shiny paint with everything else!
No scratches, no masking!

Keep truckin!

And that is the way to do it for sure. But I am jambing the car and making the paint all nice with the panels off, then back masking everything with the nice 3m foam tape. I have a long 36" durablock that will span the panels nicely when I am blocking out the slicksand after the car is jambed and assembled for the last time. doing it this way will ensure I have a nice "flat" surface from panel to panel. The color is so dark, I have to treat it like black paint.

What IS the final paint color going to be Jim? Or is it a "secret"?

Donovan, it's not so much a secret, but, I am trying to keep it under wraps for now. I would like to snap the pictures of the car after it is in paint to reveal it .

You better!

FedEx should be here today with my taillights, black door locks, and license plate pocket.

Donovan,
I think what Jim is trying to say is, if he discloses his secret to you, he'd have to kill you...
I was sworn to secrecy..😉

Jim,
I dig your new Avatar...a glimpse of things to come. 😉

HAHAHA, I just like when I see some builds where you see everything up till primer, then the picture when it is in paint. Of course I'll take picks during the paint progress.

I was looking for something to use for the avatar, the pic is too wide or something though.😵

Received a few parts today, a new license plate pocket, and taillights.

The plate pockets isn't exactly as stock, there aren't square holes for the plastic inserts for the plate screws, but that is ok. It is also missing the rubber bumpers for the backside bottom of the plate, but I have those on order already. In the end, this is getting painted all black.

The taillights look great, nice a clear, they even have the date code on them. Nice repop. I almost feel bad about cutting them up for the LESs, almost.
