Car is almost driveable. Ive been holding out on pictures but im there now. Been screwing around with lights not working, and mostly the whole front end not being aligned. Cant get the fenders or header panel where I want them. Have washers spacing out the middle of the header panel and its still too close and too far down. Cant raise my bumper up enough, fenders dont line up to the header panel. But I dont care yet, its a solid 20fter. 😀 Need to hit it with a buffer or at least some claybar to get the overspray clear off the roof, hood, and trunk.
Paint is a Kirker color. Going kirker was 50% the cost of going through the local parts store and they have a great tech data sheet and there was no confusion with mixtures, air pressures or recoat windows. The color is dark jade metallic and it looked real close to the stock color. Turned out a little brighter but thats OK.
I need to run to rohners for a few parts. Wont be able to next week but if I have time after next week I might make a run out.
I encountered a 27K mile, all original (minus a battery and wiper blades), original owner 84 Hurst in town. Thing is in almost perfect shape and the owner oviously cared about it. Its a solid 9.7 out of 10. I wouldnt have drove over there but it was a great oportunity to compare my H/O style car to a legit H/O.
This would be a great pic if they didnt put that rope up. And thats a 12ft tall 'artistic' chain and hook. 😀 Theres a 15ft tall pliers with a cricket in that I wanted to take a picture next too but they roped the park off...
Great job. Paint looks great & is different on a g. Fwiw imo white letter tires, center caps blacked out grill & moderate window tint would set it off. I also really like the hood & rear spoiler it with the rims n tires gives it a performance & Oldsmobile look. Maybe a black lower air dam.
Yeah I need to get center caps for the rear too. I only have 2 and they are more expensive then I want to pay. Ill probably cast up a set for myself. I am planning on blacking out the grills, but Id like another set of 86/81 grills before I do that. After this car hit a deer I was lucky to be able to find this set. Window tint is on the list too.
I am going to be fabricating a sheet metal lower air dam this fall, probably 2 inches or so, mostly a H/O style one.
Gotta get a shift kit and rear gear in the thing too. Theres a 3.08 in a salvage yard not too far away, but I doubt it is actually a 3.08. Id like to rebuild a 200R4 for the thing but thats this winteres project. 😀
